Many people are familiar with the Apple iTunes Remote, an application for the iPhone and iPod touch created by apple to interface with and remotely control (over wifi) the playback from your computer. Unfortunately it only works with iTunes. Until recently this was the only software of its kind I was aware of. I was quite pleased with the software but as a Linux user it was of little use to me. I would sometimes use it when a friend’s computer would be available, but other than that I had to relied on a VNC to remotely control playback from my own computer.

To follow up on BT’s recent Wacko Jacko post, it looks like news of the singer’s death was more than some sites could handle. TMZ, who broke the story, was promptly DoSed and went offline. Twitter had to disable a number of features to stay affloat and a number of additional news companies suffered under the traffic. I almost wish he’d taken the internet down; that would have been a baller way to go. Imagine the headlines, “Wacko Jacko dies and takes the Internet with him”.

Just heard a hilarious sound bite from Lou Piniella (Cubs Manager) talking about smoking reefer. I’m paraphrasing, but basically here is what he said:
“I have smoked dope one time in my life and it didn’t do a damn thing for me, and I never tried it again. I’m fortunate for that, but a lot of people do, I mean you can buy it in California, from a pharmacy…ah what do I know..”
I’ll post the sound bite once I find it somewhere on the web….utterly hilarious.
UPDATE****
Here’s the sound bite for your enjoyment. Find the whole clip on espn.com, looks like I broke the story before them

So yesterday I got my hands on a closed beta invite for Google Voice, and I’ve had a chance to check it out. Have to say, it is a very cool and interesting way to manage your phone, voicemail, and SMS. Basically, it provides an interface where you can choose a phone number (they let you search by Word or area code), and then provide that phone number, and whenever someone calls

I’m a web developer, so I’m often on the lookout for good icon resources, whether I’m going to be using them for my job job or for my iDesign business. When I was looking over some jQuery resources, I stumbled upon a site that a very legit jQuery developer had just launched, called IconDock. This site is awesome if
